Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. Her father's death as a Carnival barker when Ruth was just a little girl She was required to keep the family going by working as a maid and server. Ruth grew up in a tenement community that was poor in Boston, Massachusetts, where she attended school. However, she was only in school for two years before taking a break to pursue her acting profession. The route she took wasn't without its challenges. When she was in New York, her first task was to pose stills for crime magazines, her dream of performing in the theater she longed to do was abyssal. She then worked as a hat check girl at a night club before calling the shots and moving back to Boston. As an usherette, she worked during the day and then was a part of the New England Repertory Company by evening, her first ever permanent acting job. She studied drama in The Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
