Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. She is currently employed by ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN as a reporter in 2016. She's the daughter of TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been for a long time, starting at her age of nine. The ability to speak two languages helped her to get her first job at Univision, Miami. She was able to work alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Her first job was as reporter for CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she moved away from Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting at KNVO TV 48 Univision. In reporting on news stories about drugs and immigration issues on both sides the Texas-Mexico border, she was a news reporter on the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5pm, then an anchor for the news channel in English for 9 pm, after which she became a news anchor until 10pm, before returning on channel Spanish channel. Also, she was often called upon to be a weather and sports anchor. Later, she was the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. She was then given larger responsibilities. She covered the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. The show was promoted to be anchoring sports on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. The anchor also worked in the same role for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November of 1985. There is an older sister. In 1992 her family left Mexico and relocated to Miami. The couple divorced within a short time and in 1995, she married an naval designer by the name of Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 due to kidney cancer. It was during a holiday in the summer that she lived with her sibling living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl was offered the job. Antonietta still a senior at high school and was clear about the career she wanted to pursue. So while assessing if Mount Union would be a good fit to her needs, Antonietta went to visit the campus. It turned out that she loved the campus and the university offered the major she was looking for. Following her graduation from high school, she decided to enroll at the university with a major with Media Studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and also the head of WRMU, of which she's a part. They developed a close connection. Her professor, Mark Bergmann, inspired her with his enthusiasm for journalism. Also, he deeply affected her.
